Experience quintessential Provence at this exceptional villa with private swimming pool set within vast, idyllic gardens just a short stroll from the heart of Saint-Rémy.
Villa Fordy is truly one-of-a-kind with its artistic and beautifully styled interiors and unique sleeping quarters so thoughtfully designed to accommodate up to 18 guests.
Its living space is magnificent with a huge white sofa, retractable TV and fireplace for cooler months whilst the striking kitchen-diner is both a chef and wine-lover’s dream. Enjoy long al-fresco lunches in the shade of the plane trees and evening glasses of Provençal rose on the rustic wooden apéritif bar.
Sleeping arrangements are both elegant and imaginative with all bedrooms featuring air-conditioning or underfloor cooling. In the main farmhouse, four bedrooms feature queen or king-size beds and en suite bath/shower rooms – we especially love the first-floor master bedroom with its own bathtub on the terrace. There’s also a quad bedroom with bunk-beds to delight younger guests (part of a family suite).
Within the vast gardens, a pretty guesthouse annexe sleeps another 2-4 guests with its own living area (with the possibility of two single beds), kitchenette and en suite bedroom. An utterly charming double “roulotte”/caravan welcomes another 2 guests – such a unique and whimsical place to stay!
Outside, the scent of lavender, roses and pine drifts through the air as you enjoy quality time with family or friends. Sip your morning coffee in the greenhouse, check what may be growing in the vegetable garden or set up lunch amongst the olive trees. Youngsters will be enchanted by the little play room in another converted “roulotte”, meanwhile fitness enthusiasts will appreciate the gym.
The centre piece is the stunning swimming pool (that can be heated for a supplement in certain months) and its pool house with summer kitchen featuring a “Braii” barbecue, perfect for long summer feasts together.
Daily housekeeping is included, alongside the presence of an on-site gardien. Concierge is on hand to help with any advice you may need whilst an array of additional services can be arranged at an extra cost such as a private chef, yoga, massages, tourist guides, a driver, childcare, cookery classes, sports coaching and more.
And when the allure of Saint-Rémy calls, you're just moments from its galleries, boutiques and cafés. Start your day with warm pastries from the boulangerie, and end it with fine dining under the stars, all while tracing the footsteps of Van Gogh in one of Provence’s most evocative settings.
Villa Fordy is set in beautiful and vast gardens less than 1km from the historic heart of Saint-Rémy-de-Provence, around half an hour south of Avignon. You can stroll to the town centre in just over 10 minutes – walk along the tree-lined road and within 800m you could be enjoying a drink on a café terrace near Rue Carnot.
Saint-Rémy-de-Provence is indeed the quintessential Provençal town - elegant, atmospheric, and rich with history. Its cobbled lanes wind through a landscape of shuttered townhouses, sun-drenched squares and leafy boulevards. This is a place that invites you to slow down, sip a pastis in a bustling café and soak in the unique rhythm of southern France.
Saint-Rémy boasts a remarkable cultural heritage, perhaps most famously as the place where Vincent van Gogh created over 150 works during his stay at the monastery of Saint-Paul-de-Mausole (2km). Visitors can trace his legacy along a marked walking route that mirrors the landscapes featured in his paintings. Also just outside town, the archaeological site of Glanum (2.2km) unveils the ruins of a once-thriving Greco-Roman city, complete with a triumphal arch and ancient spring sanctuary, an evocative glimpse into Provence’s classical past.
The town is also a haven for shoppers and gourmands. Wednesday’s weekly market is a riot of colour and flavour, brimming with artisan cheeses, olive oils, local wines, lavender and handmade crafts. Chic boutiques and galleries line the narrow streets, offering everything from Provençal textiles to contemporary art. Fine dining awaits around every corner, with restaurants showcasing the region’s sun-blushed produce, truffles and aromatic herbs.
Beyond Saint-Rémy, the rugged Alpilles hills beckon with scenic hiking and cycling routes, olive groves, pine forests and postcard-worthy vineyards. A short drive brings you to the legendary Les Baux-de-Provence (11km), dramatically perched on a rocky outcrop, or to Arles (25km), famed for its Roman amphitheatre and vibrant festivals.
Whether you’re exploring sunlit ruins, sipping rosé at a countryside domaine or following in the footsteps of van Gogh, every moment in this corner of Provence feels rich with inspiration.
