Description

Villa L' Ottagono is a 6 bedroom, 6 bathroom, recently renovated villa on the West side of the chic peninsula of the Monte Argentario, Southern Tuscany. The comfortable and well staffed property sits in the middle of a large wine and olive oil producing estate, in its own secluded area, where it enjoys some of the loveliest sea views in Italy, overlooking the islands of Giglio, Giannutri, Monte Cristo, Elba and even Corsica. Around the house are well kept gardens of lavander, rosemary and caper plants while the large infinity swimming pool, with its teak staircase and unique views, is one of the most dramatic in Tuscany. It should be noted that the swimming pool, which is open from mid May to mid September (out of these dates the pool can be opened for a small extra cost), is a saline water pool thus avoiding chlorine, and is also heatable if necessary.

The Villa:
The villa was renovated in in 2016 and is senstive to its natural, Mediterranean surroundings. Combining both modern and traditional English and Italian styles, reflecting the lives of the owners, it enjoys all the modern comforts such as air-conditioning through-out, WIFI, SKY, and so on. The villa is set into the mountain edge, and is surrounded by terraces on three sides, where people can enjoy al-fresco dining. The villa's main room, which gives its name to the property, is a Octagonal sitting-room, large and light with views of the ocean. It has a modern fully equipped kitchen where you can try your hand at Tuscan cooking, and an adjacent larder. The 6 bedrooms and 6 en-suite bathrooms/showerooms are all comfortable and private, and are accessed individually, leading to more privacy for each bedroom.
The villa has a parking space for five cars.

The Beach:
Guests are welcome to use a small private members-only beach club (rocky but with platforms in which each guest has its own sun bed) 2 mins drive away from the estate ) called Marina di Cala Piatti. It is in its own bay and has a fantastic, inexpensive restaurant, changing rooms, small bar and staff who look after you when you arrive. The club is open end of May -September and its use is included in your rental, though subject to space etc.
We also have our own access down to the sea, with a small access jetty.

The Estate:
The estate, called Poderi di Capo d'Uomo, is owned by the Grimaldi family, and is a fully working wine and olive oil estate. The state-of-the-art wine cellar is visitable, and guests are welcome to visit for wine tasting and tours, and of course to buy farm produce in the estate shop.

The Area:
The location of the villa is great for guests interested in both beach-life, and culture: only 1hr30mins from Rome Fiumicino airport, and 2hrs15mins from Pisa Airport, the house is easily reachable. The nearest towns are Porto Sant Stefano (10 mins) and Porto Ercole (20 mins), while Siena is 1hr30mins away, and smaller 'typical Tuscan' towns within an hour include Magliano, Capalbio and Scansano. Rome is also an easy day trip. Other highlights include the nearby world-famous Pellicano Hotel, the Argentario Polo Club, there is a beautiful golf club just outside the town of Porto Ercole and not to mention the possibilty of island hopping and local water sports.

Staff:
Maria Grazia is the house keeper, and has worked at the property for many years: she is included in the rental price for 6 hours housekeeping per day, 6 days a week. At the client's request and cost, Maria Grazia can also prepare lunches and dinners, buying fresh fish at the local port of Porto Santo Stefano.
