The grandeur of this historic abode will enchant you as you discover each of the living and entertainment spaces. Parts of the château have been classified as a French monument historique – it was commissioned for one of King Louis XV’s ministers in the 18th century and its rich heritage is evident to this day. Admire sculptures, paintings, objets d’art and intricate features across the two salons, dining rooms and library. Play games in the billiard room, then kick back in the cinema lounge equipped with Netflix, Prime, a PS5 and Nintendo Switch. At Château Coeur, 18th century elegance meets modern comfort in the finest possible way.
The vast estate is so relaxing with the 25m-long swimming pool, wooden sauna, children’s play area, organic kitchen garden, orchard and forest for peaceful walks. You can even ask to visit to beehives to learn how honey is made and enjoy fresh eggs for breakfast from the resident hens.
Indeed, continental breakfast is served each morning also featuring pastries from one of Amboise’s popular bakeries. Bedrooms and bathrooms are cleaned daily and there are other additional services you can arrange such as chef hire, cookery classes, wine-tasting, guided nature walks and castle tours. For the ultimate experience, take a hot air balloon ride from Château Coeur’s garden for the most incredible views of the Loire valley.
Just a short drive or cycle ride away is riverside Amboise with its bistros, artisan shops and iconic Château Royal d'Amboise. Come across summer boat trips and canoeing along the Loire River and follow the Loire à Vélo by bike. Explore further afield to the likes of Tours, Blois, Loche and even Saumur to discover grand châteaux, vineyards and stunning landscapes of the Loire valley, so lovingly known as the ‘Garden of France’.
Château Coeur enjoys a privileged setting in the very heart of the Loire valley only a 10-minute drive from the historic town of Amboise and the banks of the Loire River. The exquisite city of Tours is only 30km away.
The château is set in 19-hectare grounds with woodland walks and a handful of e-bikes to borrow. There is space to arrive by helicopter on request and hot-air balloon rides can be organised, an enchanting way to experience the idyllic landscapes of the Loire valley. Although this is a rural setting, it is not too remote with a small handful of neighbouring properties.
Furthermore, it’s amazing to be able to reach Amboise in just 8km, home to the iconic Château Royal d'Amboise, one of the region’s most famous castles. Amboise is classified as a ‘Historic Town in France’ and it’s wonderful to spend time exploring its centre with half-timbered medieval houses, artisan shops, bistros, café terraces and the twice-weekly market. The town is also home to Château de Clos-Lucé where Leonardo da Vinci once lived as well as the banks of the river for canoeing/kayaking and boat trips in the summer months.
Cycling lovers note that the Loire à Vélo trail passes through Amboise. Follow the route west towards Montlouis-sur-Loire and Tours, following the river part of the way, or venture further east until you arrive at Château de Chaumont-sur-Loire.
Whether travelling by bike or car, this is such an excellent location for exploring the Loire Valley as you are almost equidistant between Tours (30km) and Blois (42km). Other world-famous castles include Château de Chenonceau (9km), Château de Tours (30km), Château de Villandry (45km) and Château d'Azay-le-Rideau (53km).
There are also numerous wine-tasting opportunities from the vineyards of Vouvray (23km) to the wine-bars of Chinon (77km) and the sparkling white wine of Saumur (103km), just over an hour away. Not to mention gastronomic restaurants and markets across historic towns and cities, a fine way to savour the cuisine of the ‘Garden of France’. The city of Tours (30km) has gained a particular reputation for its food scene and there are various markets taking place on most days of the week.
You could even head to Paris for a superb day out. Train services from Amboise to Paris Austerlitz take less than two hours or consider the faster TGV service from St-Pierre-des-Corps (26km) to Paris Montparnasse (this journey is around 1 hour 10 minutes). There is also a 90-minute direct service from St-Pierre-des-Corps to Marne-la-Vallée Chessy for Disneyland Paris!
