Described by the Guardian and "destination of rare character" and Vogue Travel as "Jamaica's best keep secret" Treasure Beach is an unspoilt, off the beaten track cluster of fishing villages which will delight and charm travellers looking for the authentic Jamaica. This truly is a hidden gem, an area of the world we have absolutely fallen in love with and would like to share with you.
If you want a luxury reasonably priced Caribbean holiday but hate tourist traps, then our staffed private villa is the one for you. Turtles' Nest Villa was built in 2015 on a beach where turtles come to nest every year (during the season you might have the chance to see one nesting or some babies hatching). It has three double ensuite bedrooms in the main house and one in the cottage annex, a large sitting room, open kitchen, large patio, garden and private pool. I have kitted it out with White Company sheets and towels and the kitchen has everything you need.
Treasure Beach is on the beautiful south west coast of the island, where it's sunny all year round but with a delightful sea breeze to keep you cool. Although winter is Jamaica's high season, this part of the island has no real seasonal changes other than a bit of rain in late afternoons during the summer. This is a community run, eco tourism focused area where everyone knows you and visitors are welcomed and enveloped into the local scene.
Our caretaker/manager will greet you on arrival. He can organise transfers, trips, bike hire and restaurant bookings and is the font of all local knowledge. He will also come daily to maintain the property and clean the pool. Our amazing chef will come whenever you need, her services are included in the price you just need to pay her for the food. She can cook Caribbean or European food, our American guests love her breakfasts but our favourite is her jerk chicken cooked on the pool bbq. The cleaning team comes every three days, when they will change sheets and towels and can also do your laundry (because there's nothing better than coming home with a suitcase full of clean clothes!!)
A few steps from the pool is the gorgeous golden sandy beach of Old Wharf. Round the headland there is a perfect roped-off cove which is ideal for children to swim in. A short walk, drive or cycle away you will find charming bars, restaurants and cafes all locally run with freshly cooked food and friendly owners. There is also the famous Jakes Hotel, a boho joint loved by celebrities craving anonymity - great for people watching!
You can spend the time relaxing by the pool, on the beach, in the hammock, in the garden in Jamaica's glorious all year round sunshine or take some trips to nearby points of interest including the Appleton Rum Tour, YS Falls adventures (waterfalls and zip wire), Bamboo Avenue, the historic town of Black River, the famous Pelican Bar (literally a bar in the middle of the ocean, only accessible by boat), a Sunny Island boat trip and picnic, Lovers' Leap clifftop restaurant. There are is also a spa, two tennis courts nearby and a cricket team which always welcomes visiting players.
